[the stranger had no idea just how lucky she was that vash had arrived in the nick of time, nai's trigger reaction only a moment away from separating her head from her shoulders. it'd be what she deserved for looking at him like he was something to be pitied.

damn vash for growing so tall, further damn him for picking him up so easily like it's nothing. his boots don't even reach the ground like this! nai struggles in his arms, shooting a glare back at the woman as she makes her escape.] She should have minded her business, then. [he growls, squirming dying down to grumbling annoyance as vash rests his chin on his head. beneath his cloak bunched up around his face and neck, he smirks just a little.] Serves her right.
Be nice, [ vash says weakly, because he knows he's mostly wasting his breath right now. at this age, at vash's side, hopefully nai can eventually learn to see in humans what his twin does, but it's.. going to take a long time, if it ever happens at all.
he squeezes him once, hard enough to squish the breath out of most people, then drops a fond kiss on nai's head as he sets him reluctantly down on his feet again. even as much of a menace as nai is, as dangerous as he is, as deadly as he is.. he's still very, very cute at this age. and portable! it's so convenient.
taking his brother by the narrow shoulders, he turns him around so he has to look at him, hands sliding up to cup his face instead. ] I know you don't like it, but please? For me? [ he gently squeezes his face, then lets his arms slide down again, draping over his shoulders, wrists crossing at nai's nape as he smiles down at him. ] I would like it if we got a few days here in town in a real bed.
[nai huffs, grunting softly when vash squeezes him. by the time vash sets him back on the ground, the tips of his ears are colored pink.
he's still frowning when he's spun around, at first refusing to look vash in the eyes even as his cheeks are squeezed. it only makes the flush on his ears spread across his cheeks, and he pouts - frowns harder. handling everything as it was now, the world on the other side of the portal, had been a challenge for nai. a world down the line where the humans had thrived despite everything going against them, and then his brother...
his supposed-to-be little brother, who could pick him up like it was nothing and looked at him with a terribly sad fondness that nai was still trying to dissect even now.] Mhm...
[but it's hard to argue against vash when he looks like this and nai is terribly weak for his brother. the tension in his shoulders slacks, and he turns his head back to vash to lean forward and bump his head against vash's chest. his blades had long since slid back under his skin by now, despite his fingers twitching to call them back.]
Fine... Fine. [he'd do it for vash, as much as it twisted him up inside.] But I don't like it. [an understatement of the century.]
